DIY artificial flowers for weaving wreaths. How to make a wreath of artificial flowers with your own hands

How to make a wreath on your head
Nothing decorates a girl like natural freshness and unique colors of fresh flowers. Since ancient times, beautiful girls have used wreaths woven from flowers as an addition to their costume. In the old days, brides walked down the aisle, decorated with this, especially touching and symbolic accessory. And nowadays flower wreaths are quite popular, especially in wedding fashion. Let's make a wreath with our own hands!

... So, first decide what natural material you will be weaving your wreath from. Then collect everything you need. Pick up some flowers or leaves for decoration. If you like berries, then you need to pick them right from the stem - it will be easier to weave them into a wreath.

If you want a wreath of only one flower, then it will be better to choose two or three types. This will make your creation look even more beautiful. Choose flowers with long and flexible stems. This is necessary so that the flowers are tightly woven and do not fall out of the wreath. Perfect for weaving chamomile, cornflowers, dandelions.

Pick a few of the largest flowers. Fold them neatly into a bun. It will serve as the basis for your future wreath. The stems of each new element of the wreath will then wrap around this base.

Weave each flower as close and tightly as possible to each other. Don't be afraid if there are too many flowers. Once crafted, your headpiece will dry out slightly and shrink in size. And with loose weaving, it will simply fall apart.

Do not forget to try on your product as it is made. If you ignore this rule, then the wreath may turn out to be large, and then it will be great for you. Or vice versa, it will be small. In this case, you will have to untwist it and add plants. Any interference with a ready-made garment is not desirable, because once again crushes the flowers.

Finish braiding only after making sure that the wreath is the right size for you. Fold the ends of the wreath together to complete the work. In the large flowers of the base, hide all the tips and blades of grass that creep out. Tie the ends of the wreath with grass or soft tree bark.

Your wreath is ready. It will be a worthy decoration and will highlight your natural beauty. Wear it outdoors, enjoying its aroma and uniqueness.

Making a classic wreath

You will need:
- wire (1.0-1.2 mm);
- white tape;
- two types of flowers (medium-sized rosebuds, dendrobium orchids);
- small greens asparagus, boxwood, ruscus;
- white satin ribbon.

1. Measure the circumference of the head of the person for whom the wreath is being made. If this is not possible, then make a wreath in the form of an open ring with ribbon ties. Such an addition will not only not spoil, but, on the contrary, will give the wreath even more charm.

2. Measure a piece of wire equal to the circumference of the head plus 4-6 cm to connect the ends and obtain a closed ring. Cut off one or two more of these to make a ring of two or three wires folded together. The more massive the flowers and additional elements of the wreath, the stronger the wreath design should be.

3. Wrap the wire tightly (while it is not bent) with white tape. This slightly sticky tape, used by florists to make various flower accessories, is sold in any florist shop. Close the ends of the wire and secure them by wrapping one end around the other several times. The circumference of the wreath should be equal to the circumference of the head.

4. In the case of making an open wreath, measure the wire with a length equal to twice or three times the circumference of the head - depending on the estimated weight of the accessory. Wrap the wire with tape and fold it so that you get a segment equal to the standard head circumference (for size M - 57-58 cm, for size S - 55-56 cm).

5. At the ends of the open wreath, slightly unbend the folds of the wire to form the loops for attaching the ribbons. Thread white satin ribbons 1 cm wide through these loops and tie them to the frame of the wreath.

6. Attach a small bunch of decorative greenery to the ends of the wreath (or its back). Carefully rewind the stalks of the bundles with tape and secure with a thin decorative wire for strength.

7. Cut white roses cut close to the head, attach to the wreath, evenly distributing them around the entire circumference. For the front of the wreath, choose flowers with more open petals, and towards the back, use the buds. Place 5-6 orchid flowers between the roses.

8. Carefully remove the wire frame from under the flowers so that the flower sequence you have built is preserved. Start attaching the wreath elements to the frame with tape and wire, alternating between the two types of flowers and bunches of greenery. Place only green sprigs on the inside of the wreath. Place the roses not in the same plane, but turn them slightly at different angles to the wire frame so that they look natural and the wreath is more voluminous.

How to make a Ukrainian wreath?

In ancient times, a wreath of flowers was an indispensable addition to the elegant costume of Ukrainian girls. Today, a bright wreath is a decoration for a bride and her girlfriends at a wedding in a folklore style, as well as when its owner performs at a matinee or a concert. You can make a Ukrainian wreath with your own hands, and in various ways.

DIY Ukrainian wreath: method 1

You will need:
- several branches of artificial flowers;
- several tapes;
- wire;
- thin transparent or flesh-colored tape;
- scissors.

Use scissors to cut a piece of wire equal to the circumference of the head, adding 4 centimeters to this length for the allowance. Take 3 pieces of wire, fold them together and use thin tape to hold them together. Make a ring out of the wire, the circumference of which is equal to the circumference of the head, and tape the ends.

Cut an artificial flower with a longer stem from a branch. Then attach it with tape to the wire, stepping back from the end of the last 5 centimeters. Weave the flowers one by one, alternating their colors. The last of them must be woven at a distance of 5 centimeters from the second end of the wire.

Take the ribbons and tie them, alternating colors, to the area where you did not weave flowers.

DIY Ukrainian wreath: method 2

You will need:
- wide elastic band;
- plastic bottle;
- green satin or silk fabric;
- sewing accessories;
- glue gun;
- artificial flowers;
- scissors.

Cut out plastic bottle base in the form of a rectangle and slightly round its upper corners. From the green fabric folded in half, you need to cut the same shape, adding from 0.8 to 1 centimeter to the allowance. Sew the folded fabric right side inward, leaving a small section unstitched. Turn the workpiece out, then carefully, trying not to tear the fabric, insert the plastic base into it.

Sew the remaining part neatly with a blind seam. Take a wide elastic band and cut off a part of it, correlating the size of this elastic band with the length of the head circumference. Apply glue to the edges. Glue the two ends of the elastic on the front side. Use a glue gun to glue the flowers onto the front side.

If you are proficient in the Japanese art of kanzashi, you can decorate the wreath with your own hand-made flowers. The product on the reverse side must also be carefully processed.

According to a long-standing tradition, the Ukrainian wreath should be worn with ribbons, the length of which should be equal to the length of the hair. The back of the product can be decorated with silk multi-colored ribbons. Sew on them, folding them around the elastic. The resulting wreath is very convenient, since it does not put pressure on the head and holds firmly on it even during the dance performance.

I create my wreaths with polymer clay flowers that I create by hand, but for this master class I decided to use ready-made paper flowers that can be available to everyone.

Such a wreath can be created with any flowers, berries, beads, pendants and any other decor you wish :)

So what we need:

  • paper flowers (these can be any flowers on the stem);
  • leaflets;
  • berries (optional);
  • 2 wires of 40 cm (0.7);
  • satin tape;
  • teip tape (any color);
  • nippers for metal.

We take the tape (I have it in white, you can use any other one) and start winding it around the wire.

We wind tightly holding and tightening the tape, but not too much so as not to break.

We take the first flower (in our head we imagined in what sequence all the flowers will go according to the color scheme), apply it fixing with a tape.

So, flower by flower.

We need to bite off (with pliers) 15 cm from the second wire and attach it to our wreath, thus lengthening its length.

We apply so that 7 cm is on the first wire and continue to weave flowers.

We make the same loop at the end as at the beginning and bend our wreath to create a circle.

Today we will make a wreath of flowers with our own hands - a popular decorative element. This decoration can be hung in the living room or in the kitchen, as well as placed on the front door (decorate the peephole). In addition, flower wreaths are often used as decor at various occasions: weddings (a heart of roses on a wall, car or table), birthdays (an original gift for a birthday boy) and themed parties.

The wreath can be made from artificial or natural flowers. Just keep in mind that in the latter case, you will have to take care of special plastic capsules (look for them in flower stalls), which can be filled with water and hidden in them the cut stems, and then hidden behind the total mass of buds: otherwise, the wreath will quickly turn into a herbarium. Artificial can be made independently from foamiran or felt. However, ready-made ones will do. Now the choice is large, and you can always choose something for yourself.

We will show you several options for homemade wreaths. Get inspired and get creative!

What do we need?

  • wire
  • flowers, leaves or material for making artificial flowers
  • fishing line, thin strong wire (you can take a colored one) or twine
  • decorative elements

Wreath in the style of "Provence"

To make this decorative wreath, we need dried lavender flowers. You can also take artificial lavender.

Manufacturing is simple. Just draw a heart (or any other shape) on a very thick cardboard. Cut out the outline, cut out a hole of the same shape.

We don't need lavender stems - we only take flowers. We fix them with glue.

It is useful to place such a wreath in the bedroom. The scent of lavender has a calming effect and helps good sleep.

Wedding rose wreath

You can use fresh flowers to make this wreath. However, it will be more practical to take artificial roses.

The scheme is the same as in the previous wreath. We just cut out the heart from cardboard and glue flowers to it. If we use live roses, then we hide the stems in capsules with water. And we fasten them with fishing line.

In this case, the flowers are attached to a ready-made metal base (they are in any department for creativity) using a thin metal thread and fishing line, and the roses themselves are artificial (they are made of fabric)

Attach a red satin ribbon to the base of the wreath.

Living wreath in a pot

This wreath is useful for those who grow curly flowers at home. To "streamline" the plant and give it beautiful view, turn it into a wreath.

Take a ready-made heart-shaped metal base (or make one yourself from regular wire). If you have the opportunity, use willow twigs (or any other tonic twigs that bend well) - carefully braid the future wreath with them.

Stick the resulting structure directly into the pot and run the flower through it. If the stems are naughty, you can gently fix them with crab hairpins that will not spoil the flower.

If you wish, you can add artificial flowers from or felt to this wreath (of course, if your plant does not require regular spraying).

Autumn wreath of rowan

A beautiful autumn wreath can be made from ordinary mountain ash. This berry can be stored for a very long time even at room temperature. Over time, it will only dry out a little, but it will definitely not rot and lose its shape, so feel free to use it for your crafts (not only for wreaths, but also for creating any compositions).

Take a wire and bend it into a heart shape (or use a ready-made base). Tear the rowan with large "inflorescences" so that there are a lot of berries on each bunch.

A wreath is a stylish accessory and element of interior decor that you can easily make yourself using almost any material. The presented ideas and master classes on making wreaths will help everyone who would like to learn how to make wreaths to show their creativity.

A wreath is a spectacular decorative element in the form of a ring, used as a talisman and accessory for a woman's outfit, as well as for interior decoration or as a gift.

Depending on the design, wreaths can be abstract or thematic - Easter, Christmas. It's easy to learn how to make them yourself. How to make a laurel wreath step by step with a photo

The laurel wreath has been used since ancient times as a symbol of glory, victory and peace. In ancient times, they were crowned with the heads of triumphants, poets and priests, now it is used not only to award winners, but also as an obligatory accessory to an ancient Roman costume worn at a costume party. You can make a laurel wreath yourself in 2 ways.

1. Using real bay leaves.

The principle of making such a wreath is quite simple:

  • cut a ring out of a sheet of cardboard or foam, or buy a ready-made base ring in a store that offers goods for creativity. The size of the ring should be equal to the circumference of the head;

  • using a glue gun or ordinary PVA, stick bay leaves on the base ring, overlapping them, first along the outer contour in one row, then stick the leaves along the inner contour of the ring in the same way;

  • glue the middle of the base ring with laurel leaves, placing them in a "herringbone";

  • The finished laurel wreath can be intertwined with a beautiful ribbon or decorated with a small bow by gluing it at the top of the wreath. As a decoration, you can also use allspice, cloves or dried black chokeberries, sticking them on a wreath.

Using paper blanks cut in the shape of a bay leaf:

  • cut a long strip from cardboard, measure the desired size = head circumference, glue the ends of the strip into a ring. Instead of cardboard, you can use wire, which will need to be decorated by wrapping it in paper and painting it in gold;

  • draw bay leaves on a sheet of paper - about 25 pieces, cut out;
    glue the cut leaves on the paper ring with a glue gun;

  • paint the finished wreath in gold color using spray paint.

Using the technology for making a laurel wreath, described above, you can also make models of laurel wreaths, for example, such as in the photo below

The video below demonstrates how to make a do-it-yourself laurel wreath.

How to make a paper wreath on your head, step by step with a photo

Even a beginner can make a paper wreath, as in the photo above. Such an accessory, being used for a photo shoot or a theme party, will add romance and style to the image.

For crafts you will need:

  • kraft paper of different colors;
  • wire;
  • glue gun;
  • scissors.

Take a thin wire with a length equal to the circumference of the head + 5 cm, Make a rim out of it, twisting the ends of the wire into a ring.

Make blanks of leaves and flowers from wire and paper, as shown in the photo below. For a wreath, you will need about 8 large and 12 small flower buds, 16 leaves.

Arbitrarily alternating blanks of flowers and leaves, attach them to the rim, while the tip of the stem of the previous element should be hidden under a new flower or leaf.

Wrap a strip of paper around the entire circumference of the wreath, covering the empty sections of the wire, securing the flowers and leaves screwed to the rim.

Spread the flowers and leaves, the wreath on your head is ready.

The video below shows a master class on making another wreath model. For its manufacture, ordinary paper napkins are used.

How to make a wreath of branches, step by step with a photo

A wreath of branches can serve as the basis for an original souvenir-gift or interior decor.

Branches of willow, weeping birch or grapes about 80 cm long are best suited for crafts. The number of branches used depends on how large the wreath will be. If the existing material bends poorly, then its flexibility can be improved by soaking the branches for 30-40 minutes. in boiling water.

After soaking, the branches must be wiped off. Then, taking two branches, and connecting the thin end of one with the thick end of the other, roll them into a ring of the required diameter so that one wraps around the other. Then, taking the third branch, wrap it around the wreath. Repeat the manipulation until all branches run out. You can twine branches both hourly and counterclockwise. Protruding tips and small twigs should be tucked inward to make them look neat. To prevent the wreath from falling apart, it should be secured with threads, rope, wire or tape. Now you can decorate it. If desired, the wreath of branches can be painted white, golden or any other color.

Such a ring, woven from branches, can be used to make an autumn, Easter or Christmas wreath.

The photo below shows how to make a heart-shaped wreath of branches. To make it, you need to take a bunch of willow or birch branches, tie it at the end, then dividing it in two, roll it up in the shape of a heart and fix it by tying it with a rope, as shown in the figure. Carefully trim off the protruding ends of the branches. Decorate the wreath with flowers, hearts, figurines of angels, bows.

How to make a spring wreath with your own hands, step by step with a photo

Using a base ring of branches, it is easy to make a wreath with spring flowers - mimosa, willow, tulips, muscari, lilies of the valley. To prevent the flowers in the wreath from fading quickly, it is necessary to place several plastic capsules with water inside the wreath, as shown in the photo below. The tips of the stems are placed in them, and even such delicate flowers as tulips will stay fresh for a very long time. A wreath of fresh flowers will bring spring mood and joy to the interior.

A more practical solution when creating a spring wreath would be to use artificial flowers. To secure them to the base ring, you can use:

  • glue gun, allowing you to simply glue flower buds to the base;
  • type tape, with which flowers are attached to the base.

If the base ring is tightly wrapped with paper or textile tape, then artificial flowers with thin wire stems can be securely fastened by simply tucking them under the winding. How this is done is shown in the photo below.

Another version of the spring wreath can be made by following the step-by-step recommendations.

For a wreath you will need:

  • willow or birch branches;
  • ribbon;
  • flowers - artificial, live or dried flowers;
  • 3 quail eggs;
  • sesal;
  • acrylic paints, thin wire, pliers, glue gun.

Make the base of the wreath from the branches and wire.

Punctures quail eggs with a knife, extract their contents, and rinse and dry the eggs themselves, if desired, tint with acrylic paints. Make a bird's nest out of sesal by rolling it into a ring and bandaging it. Glue the eggs to the nest. For more realism, insert dry twigs and moss into it.

Decorate the wreath with flowers, moss, intertwine with a ribbon.

Glue the nest with eggs on the wreath, fix the hanging tape. The spring wreath is ready.

How to make an Easter wreath with your own hands, master class

An Easter wreath made by your own is a great way to decorate the interior of your home for a bright holiday. It is used to decorate walls, doors, festive tables. A characteristic feature of such a wreath is the presence of Easter symbols in the composition - painted or dyed eggs, figurines of chickens and rabbits, bird nests. The Easter wreath is decorated in bright, cheerful colors - green, red, yellow. When making a wreath, it will be appropriate to use greens and spring flowers - hyacinths, tulips, daffodils, dandelions, lilies of the valley.
As the basis for the Easter wreath, you can use a ring made of wire or foam, willow twigs, piaflora. The finished ring can be braided with branches of boxwood, willow, laurel, satin ribbons, crepe paper. And also to decorate eggshell, moss, fresh flowers, grass, painted eggs, beads or feathers. Decorative painted eggs for an Easter wreath can be made yourself from foam or wooden blanks and fixed on the wreath with a glue gun.

The sequence of making an Easter wreath can be seen in the video below.

How to make a Christmas and New Year wreath on the door, master class

A traditional Christmas or New Year's wreath is used for festive interior decor. The easiest way to make such a wreath is to wrap a cardboard ring in New Year's rain or string Christmas balls on a wire and close it into a ring.

A Christmas wreath made of live or artificial coniferous branches, decorated with cones, Christmas balls and other tinsel, looks spectacular. Making a wreath begins with creating a frame. It consists of 2 wire rings of different diameters fastened together.

Next, you should disassemble the coniferous branches into bunches. Attach them with wire to the ring in such a way that each new bundle covers the place of attachment of the previous one.

Decorate the wreath with ribbons, balls, bells, pine cones, nuts, sweets in bright wrappers, dried lemon wedges.

The finished wreath is used as component part festive table setting, or, from the inside out attaching a loop to it, hang it on the wall or door.

In the photo below you can see other ways of making a New Year's wreath from pine or spruce branches. The first wreath uses a circle cut out of cardboard as a base to add volume, crumpled wrapping paper is tied to it. And then coniferous branches are glued and tied on top. The wreath is decorated with cones, cotton flowers, nuts, ribbon, textile stars.

Making a second wreath is even easier than making the first. It requires thin pine branches and wire. The branches are simply folded into a ring, weaving together, and securing the protruding ends with a wire. Decorate the wreath with fir cones and rowan branches.

The pine cone Christmas wreath is made in the same way as other wreaths. It is better to use a wide ring made of polystyrene or cardboard and newspapers as a basis for such a wreath; it is better to fasten the cones with a glue gun. The finished wreath can be decorated with artificial snow by spraying it from a spray can.

How to make a Ukrainian wreath with your own hands, step by step with a photo

A wreath of flowers is an indispensable element of Ukrainian female costume... Only unmarried girls wear it. A characteristic feature of the Ukrainian wreath is the presence of ribbons attached to the back of the rim of flowers. When weaving a real Ukrainian wreath, 12 types of plants are used, each of which carries a symbolic meaning. As a rule, it is picked from poppies, immortelle, cornflowers, chamomiles, forget-me-nots, marigolds, hops, lovage, mallow, periwinkle, yarrow, viburnum branches.

Today, a wreath in the Ukrainian style has become fashion accessory, which I often show in designer collections. Making such a wreath on your own from artificial flowers is not at all difficult. For this you will need:

  • artificial flowers, harmoniously combined in color;
  • thick cardboard for the base;
  • newspaper to create volume;
  • thermal gun with glue, mounting tape or transparent tape;
  • satin ribbons.

Cut out 2 identical base parts from cardboard. They represent a ring with an offset center, that is, one part of the circle should be wider, and the one on the opposite side, correspondingly narrower.

Taking one of the base parts, give it volume with the help of rolled-up newspapers, secure the structure by wrapping it with mounting tape or tape. Glue the second part of the base to the first, closing the winding places and giving the wrong side of the future wreath a neat look.

Disassemble the available artificial flowers into buds and leaves.

Glue them using hot glue. It is necessary to arrange the flowers in the following order: large buds in the middle, medium at the edges, the smallest ones fill the remaining openings.

Flowers must occupy at least ¾ of the circumference of the ring. At the narrowest part, you need to attach the ribbons by tying them with a simple knot.

This video will help you get acquainted with the process of making a Ukrainian wreath in more detail.

Another option for making a simple wreath from artificial flowers is shown in this video.

How to make a wreath of ribbons, step by step with a photo

An original wreath for interior decoration can be made using a regular ribbon.

For such a wreath, you will need a thin and flexible wire, several meters of satin or viscose ribbon 5-8 cm wide. A variegated ribbon will look especially impressive in the wreath.

  1. Cutting off the wire of the required size, string a ribbon on it, forming wavy folds.
  2. Roll up the wire with the tape into a ring, twist the ends of the wire, intertwining with each other, and fasten the ends of the tape with a stapler or glue them, laying one on top of the other.
  3. Spread the strung tape evenly around the entire circumference. The wreath is ready!

Another option for a wreath that is easy to make from a wire ring and ribbons. It will require a base ring of any size and ribbons of 2-3 colors tied around the entire circumference of the ring in the form of bows.
Other options for ribbon wreaths that even a beginner can easily make can be seen in the photo below.

How to make a wreath of fresh flowers, master class

A wreath of fresh flowers is an accessory traditionally used for thematic photo shoots. Decorating a girl's head with a similar accessory makes the look sweet and romantic. The technology of weaving wreaths of wildflowers and herbs with long flexible stems is known, perhaps, to everyone who weaved dandelion wreaths in childhood. But how to make a wreath of roses, carnations or other flowers with short or inflexible stems demonstrates step by step master class presented below. So, for a wreath you will need:

  • wire for making a headband;
  • type tape for wrapping the base and fixing flowers;
  • small spray roses, carnations, gypsophila, sprigs of eucalyptus, boxwood and other greenery;
  • decorative wire for fastening and pruning shears for cutting flowers.

Wrap the wire with type tape. Bend it into a ring to fit the head, intertwine the ends of the wire, fix them with a type-tape.

Attach the boutonnieres, alternating roses and carnations, to the wire headband using type tape and decorative wire. When attaching boutonnieres to the base, it is necessary to place them only along the outer edge, while it is better to place large buds in the middle of the wreath, and small ones along the edges.

Sprinkle the assembled wreath with water and keep in a cool place until you need to put it on.

The wreaths shown in the photo above are made of foamiran, a foam plastic material widely used for handcraft. Foamiran is unpretentious in work, has a pleasant, velvety texture, easily takes a given shape. It can be easily cut with scissors or a stationery knife, painted with acrylic paints, glued with hot melt glue, and combined with other materials. Using foamiran, you can make a wreath of any complexity. An example of one of the wreaths that even a beginner who has never worked with this material can easily make is shown in the video below.

Using corrugated paper, you can quickly and easily make an original head wreath or a decorative wreath to decorate walls and doors. To make a wreath you will need:

  • corrugated paper 2 colors - pink and green;
  • cardboard;
  • PVA glue, scissors and threads.

The process of making a paper wreath begins with making flowers. To do this, the corrugated paper must be cut into rectangles 9 × 13 cm.To create 1 flower, you need to put 2 green rectangles together, add 8 pink rectangles on top, then fold the entire stack with an accordion, tie in the middle with thread, as shown in the photo below.

Cut the ends of the paper blank in a semicircle. To shape volumetric flower lifting and spreading the petals.

Repeating the above steps, make 10 flowers.
A step-by-step master class of another version of a wreath of paper roses, which you can make yourself, is presented in the photo below.

It will require:

  • pink corrugated paper for making roses;
  • ready-made volumetric ring for the base of the wreath.

Fold the corrugated paper several times so that you get a small multi-layer square. Then, on a sheet of white paper, draw a spiral-shaped pattern for the future blank. Having placed the template on paper folded several times, cut out the details of future roses.

Taking the outer tip, roll the paper blank into a spiral, giving it the appearance of a blossoming rosebud.

Having made the required number of blanks. Using hot glue, glue paper roses on the base ring.

This is what a finished wreath of paper roses looks like.

As you can see from the photo, the wreath is a spectacular decorative element used as a talisman, detail of a woman's costume or interior decoration .. Using the above master classes, everyone can make a wreath of flowers, paper, branches and other materials at hand.

Whether you're getting ready for your wedding, hosting an outdoor party, or just celebrating spring and summer, creating a floral wreath will allow you to create the appropriate festive atmosphere. A wreath of flowers is a fairly simple and attractive way to decorate any event. To create your own unique wreath, purchase your favorite flowers and clip them to a wire base.

Steps

Making a wreath on a wire base

    Measure your head circumference and add 5 cm to the measurement. If you are going to wear a wreath over a hairstyle (for example, a wedding), then first do the hairstyle, and only then measure the circumference of the head along with the hairstyle. Certain types of hairstyles, such as regular and braided French braids, can add volume to your head.

    Cut a piece of sturdy wire to an appropriate length. Try to use a thicker floral wire, such as one with paper wrapping. Floral tape will stick better to such a wire. Do not use regular wire cutters or you will blunt them. Take the special metal cutters.

    Roll the wire into a ring, overlapping the ends about 1 inch (2.5 cm). The ring made must be able to keep its shape. If it turns out to be too flimsy, then twist 2-3 wires together and re-make a ring out of them. This will make it more durable.

    To secure the ends of the wire, roll them up with floral tape. You can also additionally wrap the entire ring with tape. This will provide a better foundation for further wreath work. Also, by this action, you will give the base of the wreath a uniform color.

    Select flowers for the wreath and cut the stems to a length of 2.5-5 cm below the bud. Use scissors for trimming live or dried flowers, and metal clippers for cutting artificial flowers. Try to cut all flowers the same way. This will make the wreath more uniform and tidy.

    • Try to use small, medium and large flowers. This will make the wreath more varied.
  1. Arrange the flowers in the order you like. For now, take your time to attach them to the base of the wreath. The first step is to think over the design. It will be easier to make design changes if the flowers remain free to lie on the table. Try to play with colors different shapes, size and color. Here are some additional design ideas.

    • Place the largest flowers in front of the wreath. Grab smaller and smaller flowers as you move towards the back of the wreath.
    • Try to stack all flowers in the same direction (towards or away from the middle of the front).
    • Flowers don't have to be side by side. You can place them as tightly or sparsely as you like.
    • Instead of spreading flowers around the entire perimeter of the wire base, they can only be placed in front of the wreath.
  2. Attach the first flower to the wire base. Hold the flower with the stem parallel to the wire base. Take floral tape and attach the flower to the base with it. Begin wrapping the flower with tape directly under the bud and continue to do this for about 1.5 cm after the end of its stem. Cut the tape and press the remaining end of the tape to the base of the wreath.

    Place the second flower of the wreath directly behind the first and secure it with floral tape. Position the second flower so that its bud slightly overlaps the first. The closer the flowers are, the more lush and heavy the wreath will turn out. The less often the flowers are located, the less voluminous, but more graceful the wreath will come out.

    Continue to apply flowers to the base of the wreath and secure them with tape. Work in circles until you get to the flowers with which you started making the wreath.

    Consider attaching a ribbon to the wreath. Fold several long pieces of tape in half and attach them to where the ends of the base wire are held together. Raise the fold of the straps about 1 inch (2.5 cm) above the wire base to use as a loop. Wrap the loose ends of the straps around the wire and loop. Pull gently on the ribbons to lock them in place.

    Try on the wreath and tweak it as needed. If you notice a lack of flowers in certain parts of the wreath that you want to see more lush, gently spread the buds available there with your hands, insert an additional flower and secure with tape.

    Attach the new flower to the left stem.

    Move both left stems to the middle between the right and center stems. Keep these stems together, they will be considered one.

    Add a flower to the right stem. The bud of the new flower should sit directly under the buds of the already woven flowers.

    Move both right stems to the middle between the left and center stems. Don't let the right stems fall apart. Try to keep them together and treat them as one.

    Continue repeating the last steps until you reach the desired length. As you add flowers to the wreath, the woven stems will get thicker and thicker.

    • Try using a variety of flowers for your wreath. This will give it more expressive colors, texture and special beauty.
    • Feel free to add leaves, herbs, and climbing plants to your wreath.
  3. Stop braiding when it is a few centimeters longer than the desired length. The weave should be a little longer, as a small overlap is required to fasten the ends together. This will help you secure the wreath.

    Secure the end of the braid with wire. Place the wire directly under the last buds of the weave. Wrap it around the stems several times, and then cut off the excess with metal pliers. This will fix the flowers and prevent the wreath from unraveling.

    Line up the ends of the braid. Align the ends of the braid so that the wreath fits comfortably on your head. Hold the ends in position as you remove the wreath from your head.

    Secure the ends of the wreath with wire. When attaching the ends of the wreath, run the wire under the flower buds. You only need to hold the stems of the flowers together. When done, cut off the excess wire. Gently tuck both ends of this wire into the braided stems.

Making a wreath from artificial flowers

    Find a plastic or metal headband that suits you. You will glue your flowers to it.

    Consider wrapping tape on the rim. This will hide the original color of the bezel and give the glue better adhesion. You can take a ribbon of any color, but green color matches better with flowers. If you don't have a green ribbon, try using a matching ribbon instead. The tape can be secured to the headband in two different ways, as shown below.

    Pick up fake flowers for the wreath and pull the buds off the stems. If the buds won't come off, take a metal cutter and cut off the buds. Try to trim the flowers as close to the bud as possible.

    If necessary, also cut off the bottom of the bud. Sometimes, when the buds are pulled from the stem, a small tail remains at the bottom of the bud, which can interfere with the normal attachment of the flower to the rim. If you want the flower to be attached to the rim evenly, then cut off this tail.
