Installation of gates made of corrugated sheets. Do-it-yourself gates made of corrugated sheets

The range of materials for making gates is unusually wide, but individual developers prefer corrugated sheets. The choice is determined by the qualities of this material. It is strong, durable, lightweight, decorative, inexpensive and easy to install. To make gates from corrugated sheets with your own hands, a minimum number of tools and components and a few free days are enough.

Characteristics of corrugated sheets - advantages and disadvantages

Profiled sheets are produced in a factory using cold rolled steel sheet technology. The sheet is galvanized on both sides, and this protects it from external factors and corrosion. For decorative purposes and additional protection, the corrugated sheeting is also covered with a thin layer of polymer in a variety of colors.

Gates made of corrugated sheets can be decorated with forged elements

The professional sheet has various advantages:

  • durability. The quality of the material ensures a service life of up to 50 years;
  • appearance. Products made from corrugated sheets look solid and attractive and go well with any material. Thanks to a wide range of textures and colors, you can experiment with product design;
  • light weight and, accordingly, low load on the supports. This feature facilitates the delivery and installation of the material. Moreover, lightweight cladding does not require massive support pillars, which reduces costs;
  • ease of maintenance and operation. Gates made of profiled sheets do not need painting, do not fade or fade due to exposure to weather factors;
  • affordable price. Taking into account the above characteristics, the cost of the material in comparison with others is captivating.
  • the need for free space for opening;
  • the likelihood of hitting a car with a door;
  • increased wind load in regions with difficult weather conditions.

In addition to the profiled sheet, to create the gate you will need a profiled pipe of rectangular cross-section. The design is a rectangular frame made of profiles, to which sashes made of corrugated sheets are attached. The size of the gates determines the type of transport that will pass through the gate. If it is a passenger car, then a total width of 3–4 m is sufficient. For a truck, the gate opening must be at least 5 m.

Selection of corrugated sheets

Corrugated sheets differ among themselves in thickness, degree of strength and rib height.

  • "WITH" - lightweight and durable galvanized wall sheet with low thickness and rib height. The most common choice;
  • "NS" - a denser profiled sheet with a higher rib height, but also heavier;
  • "N" - massive load-bearing corrugated sheet, used for roofs of a huge area. Not suitable for gates due to heavy weight and high cost.

Depending on the type and size, corrugated sheets are used for roofing, formwork, walls, fences

The best choice would be a profiled sheet of grade C8 or C10. The number indicates the height of the wave in centimeters. The thickness of the sheet of this brand is from 0.4 to 0.8 mm. Sashes made from grade C corrugated sheets will weigh from 25 to 40 kg, so they can easily be hung by two people, without the use of special lifting equipment. Due to the fact that one profiled sheet per sash will not be enough, the size is calculated based on the width of the material.

Making gates from corrugated sheets

The procedure for making gates from corrugated sheets is determined by the logic of construction.

Drawings and calculation of gate size

The most common are two types of gates made of profiled sheets - swing and sliding. But while it is difficult to make sliding gates at home, it is quite possible to assemble a swing structure consisting of two identical parts. Swing gates can open outward or inward. The gate can either be embedded into one of the leaves, or installed separately on the side of the gate. This depends on the availability of free space. Before assembling and installing the gate, it is necessary to draw a drawing that will indicate the exact dimensions of the product.

A drawing of a swing gate frame with measurements will help you make them yourself

The scheme should include:

  • opening width;
  • number of racks and their cross-section;
  • depth of digging of supports;
  • frame drawing indicating all lengths;
  • the position of the gate and its dimensions;
  • place for hinges;
  • place for a castle;
  • place for a bolt;
  • reinforcement elements and their length.

Gates made of corrugated sheets can be made without a wicket, but then they will be inconvenient to use.

If the gate is small and not heavy, you can do without a gate

More often, gates are made from corrugated sheets with a separate or built-in gate.

Bulky and heavy gates require the construction of a wicket

To create a swing gate from two leaves with a wicket made of corrugated sheets measuring 3x2 m, you will need the following materials:

  • profile metal pipe 20×20×3 mm with a square cross-section to form the internal frame of the gate leaves and the base of the gate;
  • square support pipe - 60×60×3 mm; for sash frame - 60×40×3 mm;
  • a pipe with a square cross-section of 40×40×2 mm for the frame stiffening ribs;
  • wall corrugated sheeting with a wave of 15–21 mm. You can take either simply galvanized C8 or a sheet with a polymer colored coating - it depends on the budget; It is better to cut sheets in a workshop, since when cutting at home, corrosion may occur along the edges;
  • corners and ebbs;
  • hinges - two for each leaf and two for the gate;
  • metal roofing screws, galvanized or to match the color of corrugated sheeting;
  • self-tapping screws for fastening sheets or hexagon screws;
  • rivets;
  • electrodes for welding with a diameter of 2–3 mm;
  • primer for metal products;
  • decor (if necessary).

Preparing tools for making gates

To build gates from corrugated sheets you will need:

  • drill;
  • welding inverter;
  • Bulgarian;
  • screwdriver;
  • laser or any other level;
  • plumb line;
  • metal scissors;
  • spray gun or brushes.

Frame assembly

Since the frame bears the entire wind load, and the torsional rigidity of the corrugated sheet is low, it is important to make the frame as reliable as possible. The gate frame is assembled on a flat surface the size of at least one gate leaf. To obtain right angles, use special precision squares.

  1. First, metal blanks are made at an angle of 45°.
  2. Each workpiece is cleaned of rust and dirt using a brush - an attachment on a drill.

    Using a special attachment on a drill, workpieces are cleaned of rust and dirt

  3. A carefully measured frame from a profile pipe is first baited and then welded into a rectangle, and the corners are reinforced with steel corners for additional rigidity.

    The profile pipe frame is reinforced with steel corners

  4. The long side of the door is divided into three parts and lintels are welded in these places, which are also reinforced with corners, and then the gate hinges are welded to the lintels. The frame is not completely welded, so that in case of misalignment it can be adjusted to the level. The bolt is welded at the frame assembly stage. Welding is carried out with tacks in increments of 20 to 40 cm. A continuous seam is not allowed, as this can lead to deformation of the metal during heating. The upper corners are cut obliquely to avoid corrosion, and the lower corners are at right angles, end-to-end, for ventilation.

    Hinges for gates made of corrugated sheets may not be too large, since the gates are not heavy

  5. Clean the welds.

    Weld seams are cleared of slag so that paint adheres better

  6. The frame is degreased with gasoline or solvent.

    Before painting, the frame must be degreased

  7. Paint the frame in the desired color.

Ground clearance should be at least 5 cm for asphalt surfaces and 15–30 cm for unpaved surfaces. If the gap is too large, then you can install a removable bar on it, which can be removed in winter.

Video: assembling a gate frame from corrugated sheets

If a gate is planned in the sash, then the frame is assembled differently:

  1. A wicket frame measuring 180x80 cm is created in the desired leaf.

    The width of the gate in the gate leaf is no more than two-thirds of the leaf width

  2. The hinges move to the edges of the gate.

    If a wicket made of corrugated sheets is located in the gate leaf, strong hinges are needed that can hold double the weight

  3. The assembly principle is the same, only smaller profiles are used.
  4. The leaf into which the gate will be embedded is additionally strengthened.

    The gate leaf with an embedded wicket is reinforced with an additional profile pipe

Frame trim

Sheathing of the frame is carried out immediately after assembling the frame. The corrugated sheet can be fastened in several ways - screwed with hex head screws or self-tapping screws. The joints are additionally secured with rivets or self-tapping screws. Self-tapping screws are preferable, as they prevent water from entering the fastening area. The profiled sheet can be mounted on either one or both sides of the frame. The corrugated sheet must also be secured to the lintels.
You can decorate the sheathing with forged elements that are welded or screwed to the corrugated sheet in accordance with the drawing.

Installing hinges

Since gates made of corrugated sheets are quite frayed, it is better to choose expensive hinges, preferably with bearings. First, the hinges are welded to the frame, and then to the support post, but it can also be done the other way around. For heavy gates, at least 3 hinges are used. The location of the hinge affects the position of the sash when open. If it is necessary for the doors to open in both directions, the hinge is butt welded to the support. If in one, then they put a loop on the frame.

Mortise locks

The locks are cut in after the doors are hung. They differ in installation rules and types:

  • mounted For them, it is necessary to provide special loops at the stage of welding the frame;

    A padlock for gates made of corrugated sheets is convenient in areas with heaving soil

  • invoices. For a padlock, a special sheet of metal or an additional frame element is welded or screwed on. Welding is not used to install locks, as they sometimes need repair or replacement;

    To install a rim lock on the gate, an additional frame element is installed from the inside

  • mortise They cut into the plane of the pipe into a special metal pocket.

    The mortise lock can be locked with a key or with the help of a special filling built into the handle

Be sure to weld a pipe to secure the gate from wind reinforcement and to redistribute the load from the lock. You can also install a latch or lock.

Step-by-step guide to installing corrugated sheet gates

  1. The first step is to mark the location for the gate.
  2. Next, holes for the pillars are dug at least one meter deep. Before digging in, the supports are treated with an anti-corrosion primer.

    Post holes can be dug by hand or using an auger

  3. The pillars are set level and secured with rubble (broken bricks or stones).
  4. Concrete is poured into the pits in a ratio of 5:3:1 (sand, crushed stone, cement) and 25% water. The solution must be compacted well so that it fills all the cavities.

    Locks, decorations, forged elements are installed on gates made of corrugated sheets last

The good thing about corrugated sheets is that they do not require painting. But you can purchase ready-made material, stylized as wood or stone. You can decorate the gate with forged elements or other decor - on top or along the door leaf. To decorate the gate, you can trim the top edge, but then it needs to be protected with a profile.
If desired, the corrugated sheet can be painted with special paints that are resistant to external influences.
You can only use the gate freely one month after installation.

Thus, using detailed manufacturing instructions, making a gate from a profiled sheet is not as difficult as it seems. They will not only decorate the entrance area, but will also serve faithfully for decades.

Gates made of corrugated sheets differ in the type of opening of the leaves and are divided into swing, sliding and lifting. We will consider the simplest option, which does not require much experience to produce. Do-it-yourself gates from corrugated sheets can be made with little material and labor costs, however, they will look stylish and beautiful if you choose the right color and design.

Installing corrugated gates with your own hands

Swing gates- the simplest and most common gate design used on private land. Gates made from corrugated sheets are easy to weld and install with your own hands, even with a minimum of tools and skills; you just need to strictly follow the instructions.

Standard swing gates consist of two supports and two leaves, which are connected to each other and closed with a lock, latch or other latch.

Gates made of corrugated sheets. Blueprints

To start making gates, you need to draw up blueprints gates made of corrugated sheets, calculate the amount of necessary materials, fasteners and choose the right tools. We will look at how gates are installed on a standard 4-meter driveway opening.

To weld the support posts for the gate you will need thick wall pipe 60x60x3x3000 mm. You can choose any pipe cross-section; it does not affect the quality of the supports and is selected only based on their availability.

For the gate frame you will need rectangular pipe 40x25x2x6000 mm. From it we make rectangular frames, to which corrugated sheeting will be attached in the future. After the frames are ready, they are attached to the gate hinges to the installed posts. A locking device is provided at the point where the valves close.

After installing the structure, you can begin painting the frame gate To do this, we clean the surfaces using a grinder, cover them with 2 layers of primer and paint of the same color as the selected corrugated sheet for cladding. The part of the pillars that will be underground must be coated with waterproofing paint to protect it from corrosion when in contact with wet ground.

Pillars installed in prepared, drilled holes in the ground and concreted with M200 or M250 concrete. The depth of the foundation for gates made of corrugated sheets must be at least 1.5 meters and a diameter of 25 cm. To avoid skewing of the gate after some time, you can additionally connect the pillars with a monolithic concrete crossbar.

After the concrete has dried, the frame of the gate frame is sewn up on the front side corrugated sheeting with an overlap equal to the width of one wave. This must be kept in mind when calculating the amount of materials needed. Roofing screws or steel rivets are used as fasteners to avoid corrosion at the point of contact of different metals.

Lastly, it is installed locking device. If necessary, apply paint to areas of the gate damaged during installation.

A real example of making gates from corrugated sheets

Swing gates made of corrugated sheets are one of the least expensive and reliable solutions, which can also be easily implemented in a short time with your own hands. Making gates is a simple process that only requires careful study of the instructions and the necessary tools. Usually, in order not to take up extra space on the site when opening the gate, The doors are made to swing open towards the street.

To make swing gates from corrugated sheets with your own hands you need:

Decide on sizes designs and draw diagram installation of gates made of corrugated sheets. Standard openings for vehicle passage are usually 4 or 6 meters. In any case, you cannot make a gate narrower than 4 meters, since you need at least room for maneuver, and secondly, in the future, you may have to let a car much wider through the gate than you have now.

Do-it-yourself gates made from corrugated sheets. Drawing

On drawing you need to apply all the dimensions so as not to get confused during the manufacturing process and choose the right amount of materials. The heavier and more voluminous the structure, the larger the diameter you will need to select pipes for the gate frame. Internal jumpers can be made from a profile of smaller diameter, since the load on it is significantly lower than on external elements.

Drill holes in the ground, with a diameter slightly larger than the diameter of the support pillars. In order for the pillars to be securely fixed in the ground, the hole must be filled in crushed stone by 10 cm. It will act as a foundation cushion for gates made of corrugated sheets, level the gate posts and concrete. In order for the cement to set properly, you need to leave the structure alone for 6-7 days.

After the concrete has hardened, they are welded to the pillars. frame pipes fence After finishing work on the gate frame, they will be covered with corrugated sheets.

Next, according to the drawing, it is manufactured rectangular frame for gates. At this stage, it is important to clearly mark and carefully weld each corner so that the gate does not have distortions or irregularities in the welding areas. Before final welding, you need to check how well the gate leaves fit together, after which the seams are welded and cleaned.

You can further strengthen the frame and give it even greater rigidity using metal corners. They are welded along the inner perimeter of the frame. After this, internal jumpers are welded to the frame, dividing the frame into equal rectangles. The lintels also strengthen the gates; in addition, sheets of corrugated sheets are attached to them.

The frame for wickets. If it is located next to the gate, then the width of the leaf is usually 80 cm, and the height corresponds to the height of the gate itself. Another option is when the gate is made inside one of the gate leaves, like a garage door. This gate is much smaller in size.

Gate installation begins with installation crossbars between support pillars. The crossbar is leveled, the gate is placed on it and checked level. To begin with, you need to secure the gate with a rope, slightly lifting the middle of the gate where the doors meet. The middle of the gate should be raised by a distance of about 3-5 cm. To fix the gate in this position, you can use a small board of appropriate height or other suitable object. After completion of the work, the force of gravity will act on the sashes in this place and they themselves will lower by this amount.

After the level is checked, we tack by welding loops to the posts, paying attention to the fact that some of the hinges with a pin are attached to the gate, and without it to the gate posts. The hinges must be welded flush with the profile, without protruding beyond it or falling through. At this stage, you need to carefully check how the gate opens and closes. After checking, it will be possible to finally weld the hinges, and to secure the gate from removal, a piece of corner is welded over the top of the hinge.

how to make a gate from corrugated sheets with your own hands. Photo

When the welding work is completed, the seams are finally cleaned, the frame is coated paint for protection against corrosion and rust. The support pillars are also coated with paint. Particular attention should be paid to the part that will be underground in order to protect the metal from destruction under the influence of the external environment.

For fastening corrugated sheets It is best to use roofing screws. The screw caps can easily be matched to the color of the corrugated sheet.

Sheets of corrugated sheets are cut to the shape of the gate, taking into account the overlap in one wave. From the outer edges we make slits for hinges, make preliminary markings and fasten the sheets, ensuring the accuracy of the work.

We install locks and latches.

This completes the manufacture and installation of gates from corrugated sheets with your own hands. If any parts of the gate are damaged during installation, it is necessary to re-paint the gate again to avoid corrosion of the metal during operation. After you tried to make your own gates yourself, you could be convinced that most of the costs in the manufacture of gates are labor costs, and the several hours spent on making gates more than pay off both in monetary terms and in the opportunity to create and make your own hand individual design for your gate.

Gate projects made from corrugated sheets

Even at the project stage, you can come up with a special design for the doors or columns and make minor changes to the drawings of gates made of corrugated sheets. The main thing is that the manufacturing process is virtually uncomplicated, but the end result is a much more interesting design of the passageway.

Swing gates made of red corrugated sheets are made with elements artistic forging. The posts with decorative tips and the uneven top edge make the gate look stylish and natural. They will suit a home in almost any style, except high-tech.

Double-leaf swing gates made of brown corrugated sheets with a black frame decorated decorative elements in the center of the valves and sharp tips along the upper edge. The gate is installed in a standard opening, the gate is cut into one of the leaves.

Sliding gates made of green corrugated board are in harmony with brick pillars and are made of the same material as the fence. A simple and stylish solution in this case provides reliable protection of the house from burglary and prying eyes.

Double-leaf swing gates are made in the same style as the fence. The gate is decorated with an element decorative forging. Brown corrugated sheeting in combination with brick supports is a classic solution that makes the fence not only reliable, but also beautiful.

Recoil gates made of corrugated sheets are a simple and reliable solution for protecting your site. On the street side, the gates are covered with corrugated sheeting, the color of which can be easily matched to the color of the fence or supports. If desired, an automatic system is installed on the gate, which will make opening and closing the gate even more convenient.

When installing a fence around their property, everyone thinks in advance what the gate will be like. For self-assembly, it is best to choose simple designs made from lightweight but reliable materials, the installation of which does not require special equipment and skills. The best option is to make your own gates from corrugated sheets, since even a novice craftsman can assemble and install them.

Swing gates made of profiled sheets are a metal frame made of profiles, angles or pipes, covered with corrugated sheets and mounted on two strong posts. Large-width designs most often have two leaves, while small gates consist of one leaf. Many models have built-in gates, which saves space and materials. Brick pillars, block pillars, monolithic concrete supports, asbestos-cement and metal pipes can serve as support posts.

For cladding the doors, profiled sheets of grades C8 and C10 with a thickness of 0.4 to 0.8 mm are most suitable. It is recommended to choose sheets with a polymer protective coating, since conventional galvanized sheets are not as durable. In addition, the polymer coating has many color and texture options. To decorate the gate, you can use forged and welded patterned grilles, which are welded along the upper or lower edge of the frame.

In addition to the swing structure, sliding gates are made from corrugated sheets. Assembling and installing them yourself is also easy, although the process will take more time. Swing gates are considered the simplest and cheapest option; installing sliding gates requires special fittings and a guide beam, which significantly increases the cost of materials.

The process of installing swing gates includes several stages: drawing up a drawing and assembling the frame, marking and installing support posts, fastening and covering the leaves. Special attention should be paid to the processing of the frame and supporting pillars, as this affects the durability of the structure.

To work you will need:

Step 1. Making the frame

First, they draw up a drawing: they draw the gate frame, think about the location of the spacers, the width and number of gate leaves, and other parameters. The standard frame is a rectangle with 2-3 transverse or diagonal struts. The width of one leaf varies from 1 to 2 m, the height of the gate is 1.5-1.7 m. These parameters may vary depending on the width of the opening, the height of the fence and the type of gate. To make the frame, you need a flat area of at least 2x2 m. A rectangular frame is made from pipes with a thickness of 2 mm and a diameter of 40 mm.

The pipes can be replaced with a 40x20 mm profile or 50x50 mm steel angles. The corners of the frame must be straight, otherwise the gate will be skewed.

2 or 3 reinforcing jumpers are made from pipes of smaller diameter. They can be positioned vertically, horizontally or diagonally across the frame. If the gate is single-leaf, the number of lintels increases. At the corners of the frame and at the places where the spacers are attached, you can weld pieces of metal rods to give the structure additional rigidity. Often, in order to strengthen the frame, metal corners are welded along the inner perimeter of the frame.

The hinges are welded last, after which the welding areas are cleaned with a grinder, the frame is sanded with sandpaper and primed. The final stage is coloring. The doors can be sheathed immediately or at the final stage, when the gate frame is installed in the opening. The second option is more convenient because it simplifies the installation process.

Step 2. Installation of pillars

The area for the gate is cleared and leveled, and the position of the support pillars is marked. The pillars must be dug in a third of their length, and it should be taken into account that the above-ground part of the supports should be about half a meter higher than the gate leaf. The diameter of the pits does not need to be made too large, 20 cm is enough. The racks are prepared: iron pipes with a diameter of 80 mm are cleaned of rust, treated with an anti-corrosion compound, the lower part is coated with a bitumen mixture.

A layer of sand and crushed stone is poured onto the bottom, the pipes are lowered and adjusted in height and vertically. To prevent them from moving during concreting, spacers made of bars or bricks are installed on the sides. Once again, check the location of the racks with a level, then fill the holes with crushed stone to a third of the height and fill them to the top with concrete mortar. The spacers are removed after a few hours, when the concrete has hardened a little. The top of the pipe must be closed with a plug.

To lay out brick pillars, dig square-shaped holes, fill them with broken brick, stone and large crushed stone, and insert a small-diameter steel pipe or reinforcing rods in the middle. They should rise 30-40 cm above the ground. Fill the hole with concrete, and when it dries, cover the base with a piece of roofing felt.

Another one is welded to the protruding pipe to the height of the pillar and bricks begin to be laid around it. At a height of 20 cm from the base, a metal mortgage is embedded between the bricks on the side of the opening, then the exact same one is attached to the top of the pillar. The gate posts will be welded to these mortgages.

Video - Gate posts

Step 3. Fastening and covering the frame

Thick bars or bricks are placed near each pillar, the frame is supported on them and leveled. Using the hinges on the frame, the places where the hinges are attached to the posts are determined and welded. Remove the supports and check the movement of the valves. If the structure moves easily, does not creak, or catches anything, you can begin covering it. To do this, remove the frame, lay it on a flat surface and cut the corrugated sheets to the size of the gate. Lay the sheet from the corner, screwing the screws into the recess of the wave.

Having finished with the canvas, screw the handles, insert the lock, and attach the decorative elements. The finished gates are hung on the posts again and the ease of movement is checked. To strengthen the structure and protect it from wind loads, it is recommended to connect the supporting pillars at the top with a metal profile or beam. At this point, the installation of the gate is considered complete.

Manufacturing of sliding gates

Cantilever-type sliding gates made of corrugated sheets are in great demand. Many people prefer to make and install them themselves, which is not at all difficult. To assemble such gates, in addition to the standard set of materials, you will need a profiled beam, special roller trolleys and additional fittings. In addition, a foundation is built along the line of movement of the gate.

Step 1. Assembling the gate frame

The frame is assembled in almost the same way as for a swing structure. The difference is in the shape of the frame - it is a rectangle with a base protruding 1.5 m and three vertical jumpers.

The welding seams are cleaned, the surface of the frame is sanded and wiped from dust, and coated with an anti-corrosion agent. After this, the frame needs to be painted, and while it dries, the opening is prepared.

Step 2. Pouring the foundation

Along the inner line of the fence, starting from the corner of the opening, they dig a trench for the foundation. Along the edges, the depth of the trench should reach 1.7 m, the middle part is dug to a depth of 50 cm. Take a steel channel No. 10 and weld metal rods to its base. The frame made of rods is U-shaped.

Sand and crushed stone are poured into the bottom of the trench, and a structure of channel and reinforcement is installed on top so that the top of the beam is flush with the ground surface. Check the horizontal position of the channel and fill the trench with concrete. It takes at least 5 days to strengthen the foundation.

Video - Automatic sliding gates

Step 3. Frame Installation

Roller carts are welded to the channel: the first is installed 20 cm from the edge of the opening, the second at the end of the channel. A load-bearing beam is attached to the frame, then the gate is lifted, placed on timber supports and the beam is connected to the trolleys. Then the end rollers, catcher and support bracket are installed. Having secured all the elements, check the movement of the frame along the guide beam. If the structure slides easily, the frame can be sheathed. Profiled sheets are attached in the same way as on swing gates, screwing the material to the base with self-tapping screws. After securing the casing, the gate is once again checked for ease of movement.

Installation methods

We offer various methods of fixing the pillar into the ground (): concreting, driving in, screw pile. We carry out installation on ready-made pillars made of stone or brick with mortgages for the folds. The posts on which the doors are hung are better connected to the rest of the fence.

Installation cost

  • Installation of gates and wickets with concreting of pillars RUB 13,000.
  • With driving in pillars 10,000 rubles.
  • Using screw piles 13,000 rub.

Manufacturing of swing gates

New materials are used in the gate manufacturing process. The basis is a frame made of metal profile pipe. The greatest demand is for a frame made of 40×20 corrugated steel pipe covered with an overlapping profile sheet. This design of the doors turns out to be light and durable (see weight of the gate).

Standard types of sashes have dimensions from 1.5 to 2 meters in height and from 3 to 4 meters in width. Other sizes, if necessary, are made to order. All structural elements of the gate leaves are welded using a semi-automatic machine on a special flat table. Eyelets and locks are installed in the ground on the doors, and a lock is installed in the gate.

Photo examples of gates

Recently, swing gates have been made from corrugated sheets. This material is multilayer, consists of galvanized steel and allows you to create a beautiful and durable structure.

The greatest strength is given to it by additional coating with various compounds. The decision to make a gate from corrugated sheets with your own hands should prompt the owners of the site to install a fence from the same material.

How to choose corrugated sheeting for gates?

A huge amount of material allows you to install the gate yourself. For successful construction you will need quality material, which you need to be able to understand.

Novice builders are wondering how to choose the right fence for their future gates? The advantages of profile sheets and the fact that a fence is made from it have been known for a long time, but not everyone knows that such products are produced with different markings.

The professional sheet can be:

  1. class SN,
  2. class C,
  3. class H.

The profiled sheet of class “C” is galvanized sheet with low edge. Its thickness is less than that of other models, but if the owner decides to use it as a gate for a fence, this material will be suitable.

The "NS" brand suggests great strength and significant weight products.

Sheets with strength “H” are characterized by heavy weight and strength. Such sheets used for roofing. The use of such material for the construction of a fence or gate is impractical.

Corrugated sheeting for a garage differs from other materials in its quality composition, and is produced not only by foreign manufacturers, but also by companies from Russia.

Using corrugated sheets in the construction of garage doors has a number of advantages:

After studying all the advantages of corrugated sheeting, you need to decide what appearance the future gate will have?

Types of construction

From a corner with a square-shaped section, materials for the workpiece are measured and cut. Then the blank of the proposed frame is laid out on a flat surface.

The frame is welded and all uneven corners are sanded with a grinding machine. Metal the frame is made of profiles measuring 60 by 20 cm. The frame of the garage surface is placed face up.

The guides should be inserted into the frame and the direction of each side should be aligned.

A gap is created between the frame and the frame using liners. This gap will ensure free movement in the sashes.

The straightness of the metal frame is checked again and you can cook.

The last stage of work- this is sheathing with corrugated sheets according to the scheme that has already been mentioned.

How to install the lock correctly after completing the construction of the gate? There are several types of locks:

  • mortise;
  • mounted;
