How to make a swan from a tire with your own hands

Often in many well-groomed courtyards there are interesting home-made decorations, and the tire swan deserves special attention.

There are, of course, step-by-step instructions for creating it, but a certain skill is required.

In fact, these creative processes are not so complicated, the main thing is to acquire the necessary materials, tools and follow the correct creative algorithm.

Materials and tools

So, for this creative work you will need:

  1. Cutting tools: grinder or.
  2. Electric drill.
  3. Pliers.
  4. Wire cutters.
  5. Moisture and weather resistant paint. It will help to give your swan an aesthetic appearance.

Of course, the key elements here are the old tires. It is best to use almost bald tires, that is, thoroughly worn tires. They are much easier to work with. The use of a studded product is not allowed here.

An excellent option is a tire with nylon reinforcement. It will greatly facilitate the work and will make the subsequent use of the created figure safe.

A product that has a metal cord is very difficult to process and leads to small but frequent cuts.

If you don't have the tire you need, you can contact your nearest tire shop. One tire is enough to create the conceived swan, although it is better to take two more pieces for reserve and some experiments.

Tires are thoroughly washed and dried before cutting and cutting. These operations are best done outdoors.

Stages of creation

First, provide yourself with a full arsenal of the necessary tools and materials, so that later you will not be distracted from work. If you have certain skills, the conceived figure can be created in one day.

Cutting and design

The final appearance of the figure depends on the markup scheme. If you make cuts without errors, then turning the tire out will be much easier. Usually the basis here is R13 rubber. Its total circumference is 180 cm.

The middle of the tire is marked with chalk. A significant part of the circumference is given to the neck and beak. The standard parameters of the swan are as follows:

  1. The neck is 95 cm.
  2. The head is given 10 cm.
  3. Beak - 9 cm.

The main stages for cutting out the planned figure are reduced to the following operations:

  1. Reinforced rubber with nylon. This measure will allow you to cut out the outline of the figure with a knife. If the knife is periodically moistened in soapy water, then the dynamics of work will increase.
  2. The use of a grinder or a jigsaw is necessary when working with a tire that has a metal cord. In this scenario, it takes three disks to create one swan. At work, it is better to protect yourself by wearing work gloves, goggles and closed shoes.
  3. Working with a jigsaw is more convenient. Before working with it in the tire, you need to make a hole with a drill. At impressive speeds, the tool wears out faster. It is best to set its speed below average values, and use the file with a reverse tooth. Under these conditions, the rubber will not heat up much.
  4. If you do not have the necessary power tools, you can simply use a metal file. But the work will take longer.

You need to start cutting the tire along the contours of the head and neck. Do not pay more attention to one side of the figure. Otherwise, cutting the opposite side will be much more difficult. It is best to cut both sides alternately.

In order for the swan blank to have the desired volume, it should be put on the ground with the already cut side down and the side components pulled up. The central side here must be held with the foot. These operations are very labor intensive.

On the sides there are half rings. They imitate the wings of the created bird. They should be down.
For metal reinforcement of tires, additional processing using a grinder will be required.

In this case, you can seriously injure yourself from the outgoing fittings. For this reason, creations from such tires are arranged on the site only as decorations. For a playground, a suitable option is a creation from a tire with a nylon cord.

The bird's neck needs to be fixed. So your tire swan will look more like a real one. Here you should act according to this method:

For the future eyes of your swan, you can use pieces of rubber. They are fastened with screws.

There are notches on the sides of the tires. This is an imitation of the plumage of the conceived swan.

You can make your swan a fairy-tale character, thereby bringing a special charm to the design of your site. The swan can be crowned. A plastic bottle or tin can be used to create a crown.

Figure coloring

Thanks to this operation, the appearance of the swan is elegant and aesthetic. You can use classic white tones, or you can do it in an original way and introduce silver and gold shades.

Black swans look very mysterious and graceful. High-quality coloring is possible with any paint suitable for outdoor use.

For a tire swan, it is better to use enamels, oil paints or nitro paints. It is not uncommon for these purposes to use aerosol automotive paint.

The main criteria for the work surface before painting: cleanliness and dryness. After applying the base layer, you can decorate the figures with acrylic materials. A more natural look to the figure can be given if you arrange plumage and a traced head with a beak on it.

Shape Placement

Placement of the figure is also an important issue. If it is placed in the front garden near the entrance, a stand is organized for it. The second tire serves as a stand. It is painted blue (water imitation).

This sculpture can easily turn into a small flower bed: the earth is simply poured inside the tire, flowers are planted there, not capricious in care.

At the summer cottage, it is optimal to arrange a more complex decor. As you know, swans live in water bodies. Therefore, it is useful for your figure to create a small pond. Its creation is not difficult.

You need to dig a small hole. Fill it with foil. Press its edges with stones, and lay pebbles at the bottom.

You can imitate a reservoir from a tire. Choose a small area. Pour small stones into it. Paint them the color of the water, such as blue.

You can surround the structure with green spaces. This will only enhance the decorative effect of the created bird.

Today there are many options for decorative figures created from tires. These are swans, and exotic, and other birds, as well as animals. Much depends on your imagination, skill and diligence.
